NO GARDEN BEDS FOR TREES OR SHRUBS? NO PROBLEM.
If your yard is paved or hardscaped you can still introduce large-scale greenery by planting it in
large containers or built-in planters, as seen here. With the help of your nursery, select plants
suitable for shallower ground; small flowering trees as well as dwarf varieties are great options.
The placement of your large container or raised bed — whether in a sunny or shaded spot — will
depend on your tree or shrub’s daily sunlight requirements. Most importantly, give your plants
the best possible start by using a premium, specialized soil like Nature Mix Trees & Shrubs soil
(see below) and by following planting instructions provided by your nursery.
This 200-sq.-ft. exhibit relied
solely on hardy shrubs and
trees, which are better suited
to our northern climate than
tropicals, and provide long-lasting appeal throughout
the seasons. The woodsy
look is countered by hot pink
and orange wall graphics and
accessories – like the multipurpose bench suitable for
soaking up some sun.
